The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme aims to attract the best and brightest minds from around the world to pursue their PhD program at one of Hong Kong's universities. The deadline for applications is December 1, 2024.
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme was established in 2009 by the Research Grants Council (RGC). This fellowship aims to attract the best and brightest minds from around the world to pursue their PhD program in Hong Kong's universities.
300 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2024/25 academic year.
There are two selection panels:
- Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, and Technology
- Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business Studies
Candidates can select up to two programs at one or two universities;
Candidates must fully comply with the entry requirements for their selected universities and programs.
Each fellow will receive an annual stipend of HK$331,200 (approximately US$42,460) and be eligible for an annual conference and research-related travel allowances of HK$13,800 (approximately US$1,760) for a period of up to three years.
Fellows who need more than three years to complete their PhD are eligible for additional support from selected universities.
