FASIC (France-Australia Science Innovation Collaboration) is a Hubert Curien partnership (PHC) aiming at strengthening Franco-Australian relationships in science and technology fields, and encouraging innovative joint actions that meet both countries' priorities.
It is run in France by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) in France, and by research partners in Australia.
The Call for proposals is open to all scientific fields, but a specific attention will be given to projects in the following areas:
- Health
- Quantum
- Soil health
- Low emission energies
- Interdisciplinary projects involving social and human sciences.
It is intended for French researchers working in research laboratories attached to universities, research organizations or research & development companies.
- FASIC Researcher supports France-based researchers’ mobility (French overseas territories included) from France to Australia.
- FASIC PhD supports PhD’s mobility within the framework of a collaboration between France and Australia (candidates from New-Caledonia, French Polynesia and La Reunion are eligible).
- FASIC Workshop supports the organisation of scientific bilateral workshops to be held in Australia, or France, French overseas territories included, or online.
- For mobility to Australia, French funding is granted for a period of one (1) year maximum, and between the 1st of January and the 31st of December 2023.
- FASIC Researcher / PhD candidate: mobility expenses from France to Australia for researcher/s engaged in the joint project: travel expense, up to 2000€, and daily expenses 180€/day, with a maximum of 4000€ per traveling researcher.
- FASIC Workshop: mobility expenses, and potentially the costs of video conferencing tools in the case of online workshops, or operating costs of the online workshop project: travel expense, up to 2000€ between Australia and metropolitan France, 900€ for the French Pacific territories, and daily expenses 180€/day, with a maximum of 8000€ per project.
FASIC Researcher :
- Researchers or post-docs affiliated to French higher education institutions or French research organizations.
- Each project must explicitly associate an Australian research partner.
- The initialisation and lodgment of the applications on Campus France platform must be done by the French institution principal investigator. The Australian team can work on the setup of the application between the initiation and lodgment. Industry partners can participate in the project.
FASIC PhD :
- PhD applicants must be enrolled in a French and/or an Australian academic institution.
- Their mobility must be clearly embedded in a bilateral research project.
- The initialisation and lodgment of the applications on Campus France platform must be done by the French institution principal investigator. The Australian team can work on the setup of the application between the initiation and lodgment. Industry partners can participate in the project.
- Priority will be given to PhD projects conducted in cotutelle.
FASIC Workshop :
- Researchers affiliated to French or Australian higher education institutions or French or Australian research organizations.
- Each project must explicitly identify the French and Australian research partner organisations.
- Workshops can be held in Australia or in France (French overseas territories included)
