The NUSANTARA is a joint initiative between the governments of France and Indonesia, aiming to foster research and innovation partnership between academic and scientific institutions in both countries. This program is managed by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and the Indonesian Ministry for Education, Culture, Research and Technology (KEMDIKBUDRISTEK).
Terms and conditions
- The call for applications is open to permanent researchers from research laboratories attached to higher education organizations and research institutions;
- All scientific fields are eligible for this program (except for defense or military technologies);
- Special consideration will be given to projects focusing on:

Blue, green, and digital economies

Health and medicine

Methods to support innovation and the independence of production capacities, particularly for medicines and medical equipment.
- Only co-submitted applications by the research partners in their respective countries are accepted.
- Companies may participate in the project as long as they are associated with an academic partner.
The active participation of young researchers and PhD students is highly encouraged.
Mission and funding
- Funding is granted on an annual basis for two consecutive years;
- The funding is solely dedicated to supporting the mobility of researchers between the two countries;
- For France, the resources provided cover only the payment of daily allowances (€110/day) and travel expenses (reimbursed on actual costs up to €1,700 per round trip between France and Indonesia) for the researchers.
