The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.
The AUCC is a non-profit association which represents 94 Canadian universities and university-level colleges.
It facilitates the development of public policy on higher education and encourages cooperation among universities and governments, industry, communities, and institutions in other countries. Among its activities, the AUCC admnisters approximately 180 scholarships as well as a number of fellowship, internship and exchange programs in a country which welcomes each year, more than 100,000 new students from around the globe.

On its website, section "Canadian universities", you have access to a Database which allows to search for academic programs including PhD, by province, university and field of study. You can also download (.pdf) a Fact-filled Guide for international students (universities list ; benefits and opportunities of the Canadian universitary system ; useful online resources ; testimonials ; frequently asked questions…).

Relating financial support for international students, the AUCC recommend among others, Destineducation.ca website developed by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE). From the BCEI website, section “Scholarships/non-Canadian", you can visit the website: 
http://www.scholarships.gc.ca/noncanadians-en.html, to get more information about awards available to foreign students for study or research in Canada. You will find there for example, useful information on Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (PDRF) proposed by the Canadian government (eligibility, deadlines, application forms…).
