The objective is to develop exchanges of scientific and technological excellence between research laboratories of both countries by fostering new cooperations, in the context of joint participation in European projects.
Platon programme is run in France by the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs (
MAE) and the Ministry of Research (
MESR), and for Greek partners by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (
GSRT).
Calls for proposals, issued on an annual basis, are open to research laboratories affiliated with academic institutions, research organizations or companies.
The eligible themes change from year to year.
For the 2013-2014 Call, the eligible themes are:
- Marine science;
- renewable energy;
- public health (emerging and reemerging infectious diseases; rare diseases - autoimmune diseases, degenerative and genetic-; anthropozoonoses);
- space science
- contemporary issues in social sciences and humanities, particularly on the crisis' impact.
Active participation and mobility of young researchers, especially Phd students or postgraduate, is one of the very first criteria of selection.The financial support only covers mobility expenses of researchers between the two countries.
