The French "Observatoire des Sciences et Techniques" (OST) has just released the 2008 edition of its valuable science and technology indicators.
Updated every two years, these indicators cover France and its regions; Europe, its member states and regions; the world and its major economic and scientific players. They relate to budgets, human resources, scientific publications, patents and European partnerships.
The report also provides insights on other aspects of
R&D in France and abroad, such as innovation in companies, French patents, publications in the humanities and social sciences, publications in the Paris region and those of U.S. states. Last, in order to facilitate international comparisons, three chapters are focused on leading or emerging regions and countries in the world (Europe, USA, Japan, China), Europe (France, Germany, United Kingdom) and Asia (China, South Korea, India, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan).
