The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) has undertaken a new program aimed for PhD candidates.
New this year: The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET) has undertaken a new program aimed for PhD candidates. A company based in Ireland finances a doctoral grant and in exchange, the PhD candidate enrolls in an Irish university and commits him/herself to doing part of his/her research in that company. For instance, a recently established partnership between Janssen Pharmaceutical Ireland and the Biological Chemistry Research Facility at the University of Cork enabled a young chemist to finance his research.
On the Institute’s website, although it takes some looking, you’ll find the names of companies taking part in this program: Janssen, of course, as well as IBM, Microsoft, Pfizer, BeoCare, Engineers Ireland, Helsinn, Hewlett Packard. This summer, precious opportunities were still up for grabs!
