The Lyon Cancer Res Center is a comprehensive cancer center with basic, translational and clinical interests in the field of cancer research. It hosts around 20 teams implemeting specific research programs in this context, totalling around 300 faculty and temporary staff.

The post-doctoral research contract will take place in the Liver pathology group of the Viral hepatitis team of the aforementioned center, where several research programs related to liver pathology have been achieved and ground the project (Plissonnier et al, Plos Biol 2016, Lahlali et al, Cell Mol Gastroenterol Hepatol 2016, Plissonnier et al, Oncogene 2017, Barnault et al BBRC 2018).

This contract will be linked to a funding application to ARC, to be submitted Feb 14th 2019, or Sept 12th 2019.

Chronic liver disease (CLD) are one of the main causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide. The project aims at considering the implication of neural factors of intrahepatic origin in the evolution of chronic liver disease, especially at the cirrhotic and the liver cancer levels.

The project will combine basic and translational approaches, aiming at providing insights as to how the implication of such factors will impact cellular, tissular and clinical aspects of carcinogenesis, using in vitro, in vivo and patients samples.

We are seeking a motivated individual with excellent interacting skills, outstanding PhD achievements derived from authoritative research groups and shown by approriate publication(s), who has showed convincing personal rigor as well as creativity credentials.

Profiles with demonstrated skills in both basic (including molecular cloning & biochemistry) and translational methods (such as multiplex IHC) will be given additional attention.

Medical profiles (PharmD/PhD, DVM/PhD or MD/PhD) will also be given additional attention.

Candidates must have defended their PhD after the 1st of Feb, 2013.


The first year of the contract should have allowed the candidate to get fully acquainted with the general work environment and to masterize the main techniques related to the project.

Within the completion of the 3-year contract, the candidate should have deciphered

- the quantitative and topological expression patterns of ad hoc markers in patients samples, together with

- the dissection of main molecular pathways related to such markers in in vitro models,

- the impact of the pharmacological modulation of targets related to such markers at the in vivo and in vitro levels
