The company plans to equip three German institutions of higher education (Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Munich technical University and the University of Karlsruhe) with technology including WiFi. Vodafone also intends to give them access to their mobile telecommunications network. But why would a mainly British-owned company decide to equip German universities? Maybe because out of the group’s 55,110 employees, over 12,000 of them work in Germany.
Not long ago on the Vodafone website under the heading "Career Opportunities," the R&D centers in Beijing, China and Newbury, United Kingdom were looking for computer engineers.
