Meeting the challenges of the future – that is the mission of Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZ Jülich), one of the largest centers for basic and applied research in Germany, located near Aachen. In 1956, the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia decided to establish an atomic research center. This multidisciplinary research center specialized in the fields of health, energy and environment, and information technology grew out of it. FZ Jülich is only one of the 15 centers that belong to the Helmholtz Association that groups together the major mechanisms of German research into six thematic pillars.
Among the 4,399 employees at FZ Jülich, there are 1,278 researchers from (including 377 PhD candidates) that benefit from a cutting-edge scientific infrastructure as well as close cooperation with many industries: Siemens in the energy sector, RWE Solar and Dow Corning in the photovoltaic field, Degussa Europe, MinGen, DSM and Norvatis in biotechnology.
If you would like to join this research Center, surf the "job offers" section, but be forewarned: the detailed job descriptions are usually written in German.
