Felisa BERENGUER joins ABG's Innovative Training and Support Department
We are pleased to welcome Felisa BERENGUER, PhD, as Training and Support officer. Discover her journey, her commitments and her goals in this biography.
Felisa holds a PhD in Applied Physics from the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, carried out in the ALBA Synchrotron Laboratory in Spain.
Between 2008 and 2011, she carried out her first post-doctoral experience at UCL (University College London) and the London Center for Nanotechnology. During this experience, she had the opportunity to work in laboratories in the United States and in Switzerland. In addition to perfecting her research project management skills, these three years allowed her to lay the foundations for her experience in supervision and mentoring, notably through the supervision of several Master 2 students and PhD students.
Then, in 2011, she joined the Synchrotron Soleil, where she successively held several positions: first a post-doc, then a position as a scientist in the IPANEMA laboratory, and finally a position as head of an experimental station where she contributed to the development of X-ray imaging techniques, with the objective of characterizing materials at the nanometric scale. These assignments enabled her to develop two fields of expertise. On the one hand, the management of technical and research projects, with multidisciplinary and international teams, and on the other hand, the supervision, training and operational management of scientists.
At the same time, Felisa is increasingly interested in mentoring her peers, on matters related to their career development. That is why she joined the mentorship program for young scientists at the University of Paris-Saclay in 2021 as a mentor. The encounters that this experience has allowed her to make, as well as the "coaching" aspect of her past experiences, have given her a taste for sharing and exchanging with her peers for career development.
Felisa is eager to share her expertise in the world of research, her experience in mentoring and her kindness by joining the ABG's training department, where she will be able to play a leading role in the design and facilitation of training courses for a wide range of people, from Master's students to senior PhDs, in all disciplines.
