Topic description

The anorectal junction is a highly susceptible site for cancer. As in the vast majority of intestinal cancers, transformation is preceded by chronic inflammation at the site where carcinogenesis will occur.
The aim of this thesis is to characterize the immune compartment of this region in healthy conditions and throughout carcinogenesis, in order to define the immune mechanisms at cellular and molecular levels that lead to transformation .
This work will be carried out not only from a basic research perspective, but also with a view to establishing anti-cancer prophylaxis.
