How will you contribute?
At the Environmental Sensing and Modelling (ENVISION) unit, in collaboration between both the Biodiversity Monitoring & Assessment group and the Luxembourg Eco-hydrological Observatory (LEO), we have developed a camera that takes videos of insects for monitoring purposes.
Your role will be to develop an application with which the camera users can analyse the videos recorded.
You will be mainly in charge of:
- Developing an application for analysing videos of insects with different existing AI models and an easy-to-use user interface in Python
- Comparing different AI insect classification models and data usages
- Possibility to create a better object detection model
- Engaging with the target users for understanding their needs, for designing the display of the results and for creating a splendid user experience
- Working in a team of at least one software engineer and one researcher

You are a Bachelor or Master student in computer science, data science or comparable studies. Please be aware that we can only consider applications for whom an internship is a compulsory part of their study program.
Required skills
- At least an upper-intermediate level of English in spoken and written
- Good knowledge of the programming language Python
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and time management skills
Nice-to-have skills
- Designing user interfaces
- Working with version control systems like Git
- Knowledge of other programming languages
