The first annual Innovation report launched by the Prime Minister on 4 december 2008, not only describes the progress since the Innovation Nation White Paper but also set out challenges ahead of UK.

This report presents an overview of the UK’s innovation performance alongside descriptions of the innovation activities (case studies…) of Government departments and the Regional Development Agencies.
Among the topics covered, you will find for example, a chapter about the inward investment and international collaboration in Science and Innovation.
Thus, in 2007 the UK was the top destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) - $ 224 billion - in Europe.
The country also remains the most popular location in Europe for investment in pharmaceutical and biotechnology R&D.
