Topic description

We're recruiting a post-doctoral fellow motivated by the idea of recycling secondary flows into sustainable, healthy ingredients and new food concepts.
The candidate will contribute to the UP4Food european project. UP4Food (Upcycling side-streams for sustainable and healthy ingredients and new food concepts) is a new European co-funded project.
The objective of the project is to improve food resource utilization by using a system approach to upcycle processing side-streams from three selected value chains in Europe (potatoes, oil seeds and pelagic fish). This will support the EU’s long-term commitment to address economic, environmental and societal challenges whilst developing fair, healthy and environmentally-friendly food systems and other consumer goods from primary production to tangible end products.
The position will suit a young scientist in a dynamic environment who has a strong background in analytical chemistry and in particular in high-resolution mass spectrometry and non-targeted analysis in order to detect contaminants in food.

The successful candidate will be based at the National French Agency for Food Safety (ANSES), in the Laboratory for Food Safety in Paris. He/She will be a part of large team to ensure deliverables are met and disseminate the research outcomes to scientific community, agri-food industry stakeholders, government and other state agencies.
