Topic description

E-commerce is transforming agriculture by enabling producers to sell directly to consumers. However, this shift presents challenges related to information asymmetry regarding product quality. Blockchain technology (BCT) offers a promising solution by enhancing transparency and traceability in the agricultural supply chain. This thesis proposal explores the opportunities offered by BCT to improve efficiency, sustainability, and financing in the agricultural supply chain oriented towards e-commerce. This PhD position aims to build a supply chain architecture integrating blockchain to secure transactions, facilitate smooth interaction between actors, and ensure product integrity. A methodology combining game theory, robust optimization, and reinforcement learning will be used to evaluate and design this architecture. Simulations and real data analyses will be conducted to validate the models and provide practical and theoretical insights for implementing blockchain in the agricultural supply chain.
