The PhDTalent Career Fair 2023

The 11th edition of the largest forum dedicated to the recruitment of PhD candidates took place on November 23, 2023, at CENTQUATRE in Paris.

Having become an essential event, it brings together several thousand PhD candidates and PhD holders (across all disciplines) and nearly 150 companies of all sizes.

Organized in partnership with all the institutions in Île-de-France, it serves as a space for exchange, where the bridging of the academic and private worlds is realized through a wide range of activities:

  • Company booths (ranging from startups to large corporations and including SMEs)
  • Thematic workshops
  • Professional contests
  • Speed meetings
  • Roundtable discussions and conferences.

ABG at the PhDTalent Career Fair 2023 featured:

The conference "Marketing Your Research Experience and Skills" led by Melike RIOLLETHead of the International Cooperation Department at ABG

During the recruitment process, a PhD holder is required to discuss their research experience. To deliver a relevant, accessible, and effective presentation, it is crucial for them to have conducted a thorough analysis of this experience. This allows them to step back and highlight their role and responsibilities in the conducted research projects, the achieved results and their impact, as well as the developed skills.

  • "Career planning Flash Interviews" conducted throughout the day, in both French and English, by our consultants.

  • Personalized welcome throughout the day at the ABG booth

Our team has provided personalized welcome and advice, as well as job offers, thesis topics (CIFRE and others), and internships (M2, engineers) from our job board:

  • The roundtable: "Recruitment Under the Magnifying Glass: testimonies from PhD holders and perspectives from recruiters," hosted by Mathieu ROUAULT, a journalist at Grand Labo.

Through the testimonies of two PhD holders and two recruiters from the private sector, we invite you to explore the various aspects of the recruitment encounter. Whether it is the meeting between the PhD holder and the company, or the position, each aspect will serve as an opportunity for:

- Sharing inspiring stories, experiences, and best practices,
- Discussing essential topics such as the expectations of the private sector and its recruiters, the mechanics of recruitment processes, and how to highlight doctoral skills,
- Addressing the human aspect of recruitment and the importance of valuing soft skills and personal qualities.

Our panel of speakers for this roundtable included:

  • Claire VERSCHELDE, Founder of the intellectual property firm ICOSA;
  • Sophia BELKHELFA, Patent Engineer at ICOSA;
  • Nadine GRALL, Recruitment and School Relations Manager - Lab Manager - Research & Innovation France Department at Capgemini Engineering;
