Aurora: French-Norwegian program to support researchers' mobility

The Partenariat Hubert Curien (PHC) - Aurora 2023 - aims to develop scientific and technological exchanges of excellence between French and Norwegian laboratories, by encouraging the participation of young researchers (PhD candidates and post-doctoral fellows), and the development of cooperation in Europe. Aurora is the Partenariat Hubert Curien (PHC) set up in France by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI), and in Norway by the Research Council of Norway.

Terms and conditions

  • The call for applications is open to full researchers from research laboratories attached to higher education organizations and research institutions;
  • The participation of young researchers and PhD candidates is strongly encouraged.
  • Gender parity is strongly encouraged;
  • Companies can participate in the project, as long as they are associated with an academic partner;
  • The programme supports research projects proposed jointly by a French and Norwegian team with emphasis on programmes establishing new cooperation;
  • Only applications co-submitted by the research partners in their respective countries are accepted.
  • All scientific fields are concerned.

Mission and funding

  • Funding is granted on an annual basis, for two consecutive years;
  • The funding only covers the mobility of researchers between the two countries;

  • Funding support from France covers stay (€180/day) and travels (reimbursement on actual expenses up to a limit of €600 per France-Norway round-trip) allowances of involved French researchers.
