Fellowships for PhD candidates by the German Academic Exchange Service – DAAD

The DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - German Academic Exchange Service)  is offering PhD candidates and early-career researchers a funding program to help them to achieve or develop their research projects in a higher education institution or German research institute (public or recognized by the German State). The deadline for applications is February 17, 2025.

The DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - German Academic Exchange Service), largest German organization which aims to promote academic cooperation with foreign countries, is offering PhD students and early-career researchers, as well as  university academics and scientists, a funding program to help them to achieve or develop their research projects in a higher education institution or German research institute (public or recognized by the German State). 

 

This grant is intended for PhD candidates of all disciplines who wish to carry out a long-term research stay in Germany at a public or state-recognized institution of higher education or non-university research institute.

Terms and conditions

  • The DAAD offers grants, from 2 to 6 months (postdocs) or 2 to 12 months (doctoral students) (no extension or renewal),
  • Monthly allowance of 1 300 €  with additional benefits listed on the DAAD website,
  • In order to be considered for a DAAD fellowship, applicants must be able to demonstrate a sufficient level of the working language in Germany (German or English),
  • Applications must be written in French or English and not in German (except for disciplines related to German).
  • Applications must be submitted online on the DAAD application portal.
The final deadline for application is February 17, 2025.
