Expression et reconnaissance des émotions : quel est le rôle des postures dynamiques corporelles. // Expression and Recognition of Emotions: What is the Role of Dynamic Body Postures?

L'objectif du projet de thèse POSTURE financé par l'ANR (ANR-22-CE38-0010-01) est de déterminer le rôle des postures corporelles dynamiques dans l'attribution d'états mentaux aux personnes. Renforcent-elles l'intensité des émotions perçue sur les visages via les expressions faciales ou comportent-elles une signification propre ? Pour répondre à cette question, le projet allie des expertises de psychologie expérimentale (induction d'état mentaux chez des participants tout-venant) et d'informatique (capture, computation et génération d'avatars). Le ou la doctorante aura pour objectif de mener plusieurs études de psychologie visant à i) induire des émotions chez des participant·es volontaires adultes ; 2) à enregistrer leurs expressions émotionnelles notamment corporelles via des systèmes de « motion capture », en collaboration avec des chercheur·es en informatique (LICIIS URCA et ICUBE UNISTRA), afin d'extraire des régularités par type d'émotion et à 3) mener des études de reconnaissances des émotions enregistrées et des émotions captées et retranscrites sur avatars. Le ou la doctorante devra avoir une formation initiale en psychologie expérimentale ou sciences cognitives, des compétences en statistiques et quelques notions en programmation et présenter des dispositions aux nouvelles technologies (réalité virtuelle, systèmes de captation).

The objective of the POSTURE PhD project (funded by ANR-22-CE38-0010-01) is to determine the role of dynamic body postures in attributing mental states to individuals. Do these postures enhance the perceived intensity of emotions on faces through facial expressions, or do they have their own inherent significance? To answer this question, the project combines expertise in experimental psychology (inducing mental states in participants) and computer science (capture, computation, and generation of avatars). The PhD candidate will aim to conduct several psychological studies with the following objectives: 1) Induce emotions in adult participants 2) Record their emotional expressions, particularly bodily expressions, using motion capture systems, in collaboration with computer science researchers (LICIIS URCA and ICUBE UNISTRA) to identify patterns by type of emotion, and 3) Conduct studies on the recognition of recorded and captured emotions transcribed onto avatars. The PhD candidate should have an initial background in experimental psychology or cognitive sciences, skills in statistics, some knowledge of programming, and an aptitude for new technologies (virtual reality, capture systems).
