Formulation of filtration membrane with controlled zeta potential and impacts on peptide separation by electrodialysis with filtration membrane

Filtration membrane, hydrolysate, zeta potential, peptide fractions, bioactivities

Description du sujet

The use of different membranes in the food industry is increasingly common. The filtration membranes produced by Amer-Sil (Luxembourg) were recently modified by covering them with an ionic layer thus allowing demineralization in a manner similar to conventional membranes and at a tenth of the price. Hence, this project is part of a vast research project aiming a valuation of bio-food co-products and the development of eco-efficient processes (VITALE Consortium), through innovative and sustainable approaches based on electromembrane processes.

The objectives of this project are:

1) Formulate filtration membranes (MFs) with a controlled zeta potential from formulations controlled by the industrial partner Amer-Sil and analyze the physicochemical properties;

2) Perform peptide separation tests by electrodialysis with filtration membrane (EDMF) on a model hydrolyzate and characterize the peptide fractions obtained;

3) Optimize the formulations of MFs and test in EDMF on a larger scale;

4) Characterize the fractions obtained and validate the in-vitro bioactivities (antimicrobial, anti-hypertensive, anti-diabetes and antioxidant).
