Description du sujet
A PhD (4-5 years) or a MSc1 (2 years) position is immediately available to investigate charge, thermal and magnetic transport in (i) nanostructured molecular semiconductors or (ii) hybrid twodimensional van der Waals heterostructures based on (mechanically exfoliated) Quantum Materials such as graphene, transition metal dichalcogenides and black phosphorus. The work will be carried out at the Laboratory of Molecular and Device Physics under the supervision of Prof. Emanuele Orgiu.
Ideal candidate: A BSc or an MSc in Physics / Physical Engineering / Materials Science, or in a related discipline providing sufficient background in solid state/semiconductor physics, is required. Past experience with nanofabrication, low-temperature physics, low-noise electronic measurements, thermal transport measurements are a plus. The candidate must be able to communicate with the team in English. Spoken and written French are
highly appreciated.
*Le prof. Orgiu (et l'INRS!) parlent français. N'hésitez pas à lui écrire pour demander plus de renseignements sur le projet, la vie à Montréal etc..*
We offer ideal conditions to carry out your doctoral research, including an institute with a thriving scientific atmosphere, located in the vicinity of Montreal and only less than an hour away from fantastic natural attractions.

INRS-EMT Centre (Varennes site) is fully equipped with state-of-the-art a micro- and nanofabrication and
characterization (https://inrs.ca/en/research/researchfacilities/find-a-research-facilitie/laboratory-of-microand-
nanofabrication/) clean room as well as the unique Advanced Laser Light Source (ALLS) infrastructure
(https://alls.inrs.ca/ ).
The project will benefit from the highly multidisciplinary nature of INRS-EMT, with close links to experts in many different relevant areas, including material growth, non-linear optics, and surface analysis, all in the one building!
Prof. ORGIU is looking for a highly motivated candidate with the ambition to carry out research in Semiconductor Physics/Engineering at the forefront of the field.
