Respiratory diseases have a significant impact from a medical and socioeconomic viewpoint. The World Health Organisation (WHO) classifies pneumonia among the ten leading causes of death worldwide.
Despite this critical situation, the existing treatments are limited as they relieve some symptoms, but are seldom curative. These data underscore the urgent need to develop innovate research with the aim of achieving a better understanding of the pathophysiology of respiratory diseases and formulating more effective devices for targeted therapy. This is precisely the missions that the Research center for Respiratory Diseases ("CEPR") has set itself, aided by the numerous complementary resources and expertise existing within its 4 research teams.
Poste et missions
Project overview:
We’re looking for a junior Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Engineer to join an interdisciplinary project aimed at developing therapeutic approaches against pathogenic viruses in the Paramyxovirinae subfamily.
Funded by the France2030-PEPR-MIE program (https://lnkd.in/e-9AKv8Z), this collaborative project unites 8 French teams with expertise in biochemistry, virology, chemistry, and pharmaceutical development to design antiviral strategies targeting "viral factories" within infected cells.
Responsibilities:
As part of the "Pathophysiology of Respiratory Infections" team at the "Research Center for Respiratory Diseases (CEPR)", you will contribute to Work Package 3 (WP3). WP3 is dedicated to assessing the mechanisms and antiviral properties of compounds targeting the viral NTAIL-XD complex interaction (DOI: 10.1007/978-3-319-20164-1_12), in combination with antiviral metabolic modulators like succinate (DOI: 10.15252/embj.2021108306).
Location:
Inserm unit 1100, Research Center for Respiratory Diseases, team1: “Pathophysiology of respiratory infections”, Faculty of medicine, Tours, France. www.cepr-inserm.fr
The host lab offers state-of-the-art technological facilities for cell culture, flow cytometry, cell and molecular biology, microscopy and animal studies. Our dynamic research team includes researchers, lecturers, clinicians, technicians, postdocs and students.
Position based in our laboratory on a 16-month contract, starting in early 2025.
