Ce projet de recherche propose une analyse comparative des romans d'Igiaba Scego, Maaza Mengiste et Alice Zeniter, trois autrices d'origines et de cultures différentes, écrivant respectivement en italien, anglais et français. L'objectif est d'explorer la littérature postcoloniale sous un angle transnational en mettant en lumière les convergences et divergences dans leurs approches littéraires. Le projet examine les romans Oltre Babilonia (2008), Adua (2015), La linea del colore (2020) et Cassandra a Mogadiscio (2023) d'Igiaba Scego, Beneath the Lion's Gaze (2010) et The Shadow King (2019) de Maaza Mengiste, et L'art de perdre (2017) d'Alice Zeniter. En s'appuyant sur des théories postcoloniales (Césaire 1955, Said 1978, Spivak 1988, Ponzanesi 2012, Fanon 2015), ce projet examine des concepts clés tels que l'agency des personnages colonisés et postcolonisés, l'influence de la violence coloniale et patriarcale, ainsi que les relations de pouvoir liées au genre, à la race et à la classe sociale. L'analyse s'intéresse également à la manière dont ces autrices redéfinissent l'histoire coloniale, en déconstruisant les narrations dominantes et en mettant en valeur les « petites voix de l'histoire » (Guha 2009) souvent ignorées. L'étude explore également l'utilisation des langues coloniales par ces écrivaines qui, après un processus de réappropriation, les emploient comme moyens d'expression pour construire une identité postcoloniale féminine complexe et multiforme. Enfin, l'approche interdisciplinaire du projet, qui combine littérature, anthropologie, sociologie et histoire, permet d'appréhender la littérature postcoloniale dans sa dimension transnationale, tout en analysant les liens intertextuels entre les œuvres des trois autrices.

This research project proposes a comparative analysis of the novels by Igiaba Scego, Maaza Mengiste, and Alice Zeniter, three authors from different origins and cultures, writing respectively in Italian, English, and French. The goal is to explore postcolonial literature from a transnational perspective by highlighting the convergences and divergences in their literary approaches. The project examines Igiaba Scego's Oltre Babilonia (2008), Adua (2015), La linea del colore (2020) and Cassandra a Mogadiscio (2023), Maaza Mengiste's Beneath the Lion's Gaze (2010) and The Shadow King (2019), and Alice Zeniter's L'art de perdre (2017). Drawing on postcolonial theories (Césaire 1955, Said 1978, Spivak 1988, Ponzanesi 2012, Fanon 2015), this project examines key concepts such as the agency of colonized and postcolonial characters, the influence of colonial and patriarchal violence, as well as power relations related to gender, race, and social class. The analysis also focuses on how these authors redefine colonial history by deconstructing dominant narratives and giving voice to the often ignored “small voices of history” (Guha 2009). The study also explores the use of colonial languages by these writers, who, after a process of reappropriation, employ them as means of expression to build a complex and multifaceted postcolonial feminine identity. Finally, the interdisciplinary approach of the project, combining literature, anthropology, sociology, and history, enables an understanding of postcolonial literature in its transnational dimension, while analyzing the intertextual links between the works of the three authors.

Le.a candidat.e doit avoir une connaissance excellente de la littérature coloniale dans les trois langues du projet et elle devrait avoir déjà travaillé dans ce domaine, pour pouvoir arriver en trois ans à des résultats conséquents dans ses recherches.
